Middletown, NY – The Vikings avenged their opening season loss to the Colt of SUNY Orange with a 3-1 victory last night. With the win, Westchester now moves to 2-1 on the year.
 
SUNY WCC came out strong in the first set with a commanding 25-15 win thanks to six Viking kills. The Vikings would explode with 14 kills in set number two taking another set victory over the Colts 25-19. SUNY Orange would not go away quietly, squeaking by a 25-22 third set win to push the game to a fourth set. The Vikings would end the match there. Westchester would take the fought and ultimately final set from the Colts 25-19 to take the over match victory.
 
SUNY WCC stayed consistent and aggressive behind the service line thanks to seven team aces. The Viking defense and offense played exceptionally well behind 52 team digs and 35 offensive kills respectively. Westchester was led by Sophomore Gabriella Cresti Caetano who led the team with 15 kills, Velina Greco had a team high 12 digs, and Julia Pawlowicz had three aces.
 
Westchester looks to their first weekend of double duels with their first match-up at Nassau Community College on Saturday against host Nassau and Monroe-Bronx. The Vikings then bounce right back with another double duel on Sunday at Rockland Community College against Hostos and Bronx Community College.
