Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Vikings Take Two From Hostos And Bronx Community College

Suffern, NY – Westchester bounced right back into the win column Sunday afternoon with victories over Hostos Communty College and Bronx Community College. The Vikings are now 4-3 on the year.

Match #1: Hostos 3-2 W

The dreaded 5-set volleyball match. Westchester experienced it once before as it left a bad taste in their mouth, however, the Vikings pushed through a good Caiman team to come out victorious. Set number one saw SUNY WCC take a 28-26 victory. The energy must've continued to set number two with a Westchester 25-14 statement win as they looked to take the 3-0 sweep. Hostos would have other ideas. The Caimans would take the next two games 25-20 and 27-25 pushing the game to the fifth and final set. The Vikings knew this all too well from their opening season match against the Colts of SUNY Orange where SUNY WCC ultimately fell. Westchester would not be out done this time, taking the 15-12 set victory over Hostos evening their record out at 3-3. The Vikings we led by none other that Gabriella Cresti Caetano with 21 kills and Julia Pawlowicz who had nine aces. Newcomer Samantha Silvera would lead the team with 12 digs.

Match #2: Bronx 3-0 W

In their second match of the day, the Vikings came out with a 3-0 sweep of the Bronx Broncos 25-18, 25-10, and 25-11. Pawlowicz stood out once again with seven kills and five aces in the match. Velina Greco, Atalia Graham, and Cresti Caetano would lead the team with three digs apiece.

Westchester's next game is Tuesday September 26th when they travel up to Poughkeepsie, NY to take on Conference/Regional foe Dutchess Community College starting at 7pm.
