New Rochelle, NY – The fall 2023 semester opened up for the SUNY Westchester Men's Soccer team with a solid 3-2 victory over the Monroe Express.
On a hot and muggy afternoon, the Vikings were clearly eager to get out to a strong start. In the 23
rd Sophomore
Brian Cifuentes would lead
Andrick Palma for the first goal of the season. Westchester would hold the Express scoreless in the first half out-shooting them 9-4. Coming out of halftime, Westchester continued to fire on all cylinders. In the 55
th minute,
Alexander Mina would net the second goal for SUNY WCC with an assist from
Juan Espinosa. The Vikings would continue to hold Monroe-Bronx scoreless until the 68
th minute when Lorenz Utz scored for the Express. Getting in on the scoring was Espinosa again in the 85
th minute to ultimately seal the Viking victory. Monroe would add a late goal 25 seconds before the second half would end to ultimately bring the score to 3-2.
Nicholas Nunez Notches his first victory of the season in goal for the Vikings saving 5 shots. Westchester would outshoot the Express 21-12 while also edging them in corner kicks 2-1.

th at 1pm against region opponent LaGuardia Community College right here on Barrett Field!
