Newark, NJ – The Vikings opened the new year with a tough loss to Essex County College Saturday afternoon 78-70.
 
Westchester would be led by Yenfry Paulino who had 21 points and 10 rebounds on the day followed by Wyatt Triestman who added 16 points and eight rebounds. Yave Cruz had 12 points and a team high 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Efrain Davila added 13 points for the Vikings.
 
The early seven-point halftime deficit seemed to be the dagger for SUNY Westchester. They shot 53% from the charity stripe while also shooting 38% from beyond the arc.
 
The Vikings look to turn a new leaf as they host Middlesex County College on Thursday January 11^th for a 7pm game right here in Viking Gymnasium.
