Lansing, MI – The Men's Bowling team participated in the NJCAA National Bowling Tournament last week out in Lansing, Michigan and was an overall great experience for the Vikings.
On what was one of the hardest oil patterns seen at the National Championship, SUNY Westchester gave it their all during the three-day tournament. Freshman
Douglas Bowles ended up averaging a team-high 171 and a high score of 204 putting him at 41
st overall in the Tournament. Freshman
Jonathan Hector finished 67
th overall with a high score of 181. Sophomore
Anthony Pullissio finished 8
th overall with a high score of 171. Freshman's
Joseph Bizzoco and
Christopher Pena rounded out the Viking roster with high scores of 167 and 135 respectively.
The experience for the Vikings was next to none especially for first-year Head Coach Anthony Bowles who looks to continue to build up the bowling program here at SUNY Westchester. "The first year is under my belt," Bowles stated. "I knew coming in I had big shoes to fill due to Walter's [Hauck] legacy here at SUNY Westchester but, I know that I'm going to put this program on the map!"
Speaking of Walter Hauck's legacy, the NJCAA Coaches Association named the Coach of the Year award in memory of Hauck and his years of dedication at the national level.
