Groton, CT – Baseball came home with two solid wins Saturday evening against another East District opponent in UConn Avery-Point 4-3 and 9-3.
GAME 1: 4-3 Win
Even after a 45-minute delay due to traffic on I-95, the Vikings proved they were ready with whatever was thrown at them!
Jackson Kossow would be the star of game one in dominating fashion. In five innings of work, Kossow would scatter four hits while striking out 10 UCAP batters giving up zero runs and walking only two batters. Westchester's offense would explode for 10 hits thanks to
Marc Stockhausen,
AJ Falciglia,
Brandon Hernandez, and
Mike Kocovic who all contributed two hits each. Kocovic would also add three stolen bases. Falciglia came into pitch with one out in the seventh to shut the door and earn his first Save of the season.
GAME 2: 9-3 Win
SUNY WCC's bats continued to roll in game two belting out eight hits and nine runs scored.
Marc Stockhausen would lead the team with three hits while
Tommy Poggi would have a double and 3 RBI's. Freshman
Michael Dawson would have yet another solid outing going six strong innings allowing one earned run while striking out three and scattering five hits.
With April showers planned for the week, the Vikings look to hopefully better weather for the weekend. Westchester looks to play Manhattanville College's JV team tomorrow, April 2
nd, for a 3:30pm game. Following that game, the Vikings host Monroe-Bronx for a three-game set on Friday and Saturday this week. Any schedule updates will be posted on all of SUNY Westchester Athletics Social Media outlets.
