Valhalla, NY – The Vikings took home a solid victory yesterday afternoon against Raritan Valley by the score of 13-2. The win puts Westchester at 18-14 overall.
The clear "what if" factor was who was willing to step up and help drive this team forward. Injuries have plagued the Vikings on and off all season so needing a solid performance against a good Raritan team is exactly what the doctor ordered. That all came about with starting pitcher
Wyatt Triestman. With no shame being in the spotlight during the most recent basketball season finishing in the top five in NJCAA rebounds, Wyatt has dabbled in baseball and opened some eyes yesterday afternoon. The Freshman lefty would pitch six strong innings allowing four hits and only one earned run while striking out nine batters earning his first collegiate victory on the diamond.
The Westchester offense would also step up to the plate and pound out 10 hits led by none other than
AJ Falciglia who had himself a day. AJ would go 4 for 4 with four RBIs thanks to a three-run homerun and two doubles on the afternoon. Vikings right fielder
Brandon Hernandez would add two hits of his own and scored two runs in the mercy-rule shortened game.
With an off day today, April 24
th, Westchester looks to their next Mid-Hudson Conference series starting tomorrow, April 25
th, when they host cross-river rival Rockland Community College. First pitch slated for 3:30pm on Vikings Field.
