Valhalla, NY - The dream season continues as on Thursday October 23rd the Westchester Community College Lady Viking's won 2 games and ultimately defeated Dutchess Community College to hoist the Mid Hudson Conference Championship Plaque! This was their first since 2019 and only their second since 2000. The team has won 13 straight games and none sweeter than this last one.

 

To set the stage, The Vikings had to beat Rockland CC and Dutchess had to win their game vs Orange County CC for the ultimate rubber match this season. After the first two games it was set, WCC vs DCC for the chip. The two teams split in the regular season and through the first two sets it looked like we were gonna have another one of those who can outlast each other, type of games. The Lady Vikings took the first set and Dutchess took the second. In the 3rd and 4th set our girls found their groove and began to run away with it and won both sets by 10+. 

 

It took a full team effort of course to win the two games but in maybe her best game of her outstanding season Yulis Vidal had 11 kills and 17 digs to help carry her team to a 3-1 win. Sophomore Ashley Webber also had 26 assists in the championship game. 

 

It is crazy to think after this historic season, maybe the best in program history there is still so much to accomplish. This was just the beginning as next Thursday we begin our road to Nationals and will compete in the Region 15 playoffs. We are so proud of the girls and know they still have so much left to offer.
