After a long Thanksgiving break and a 15 day layoff the Lady Vikings were eager to take the court and get back to action. In their first game back they would take on the Herkimer Generals who earlier this season were receiving votes in the division 3 polls. 

 

Early on it was all defense for both teams. At the end of the first quarter it was only 10-11. Neither team could get in rhythm and that carried on throughout most of the first half. 

 

Both teams would look for a 3rd quarter spark to jump out to some sort of advantage. WCC would do just that with their press and the Generals just couldn't handle it. After only being up 3 to enter the second half the Lady Vikings would only allow 7 points in the third quarter and score 19 to jump out to a double digit lead going into the 4th. 

 

Westchester would cruise to the end winning by 12 as they survived a late push from Herkimer. Freshman Daveya Rodriguez(Beacon High School/ Beacon, NY) had her season and career high with 17 points. and Freshmen Mariah Mills(North Rockland HS/New City, NY) and sophomore Angelica Rios(Ossining High School/Ossining, NY) both had 12 points in the win over Herkimer.

 

The Lady Vikings will have to quickly lock back in tho as they face another tough opponent in Montgomery College of Rockville Maryland this Saturday in Viking Gymnasium at 2:00 PM. Montgomery holds a 7-2 record so it will be another tough game for WCC.
