On March 6th, Westchester Baseball faced Sussex County Community College and suffered a 9-4 defeat.
Westchester came out strong, putting up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. However, Sussex quickly responded with a run in the first and three more in the second. The next three innings were quiet, with neither team scoring any runs. Between the sixth and seventh innings, Sussex added five more runs, while the Vikings could only gain two. Despite WCC's early lead and solid skills showing zero errors, they were unable to come back from the deficit.
The Vikings' four runs can be credited to Freddy Heymach, Jhonny Ortiz, Randel Weisner, and Lucas Feliciano. WCC also had 4 innings pitched by Robert Keller with 8 strikeouts, 2 innings by Owen Tyler with 2 strikeouts, 1.2 innings by Tomer Naor with 1 strikeout, and .1 innings by Justin Owens with 1 strikeout.
Looking ahead, Westchester plans to bounce back in their doubleheader against Suffolk County Community College on March 8th, at 12pm and 2:30pm at Silver Lake.
