Sophomore standout, Elijah Hernandez, has made an unforgettable mark on SUNY Westchester's athletic program. Bursting onto the scene as a key component for the Vikings Basketball team in his freshman year, Elijah didn't just maintain his momentum—he elevated his game to new heights in his sophomore season, emerging as a true leader and cornerstone of the team. 

In his debut season as a Viking, Elijah Hernandez impressed with a standout 28-point performance—but he shattered expectations this year with an extraordinary 50-point game in February against region opponent Ulster Community College. With over 70% of his total career points scored during his sophomore season alone, Elijah's growth is a clear reflection of his relentless work ethic and dedication to the game. In March, he reached a remarkable milestone, surpassing 1,000 career points while leading the team to a thrilling victory in the Region 15 Semi-Final. His dominant presence on the court hasn't gone unnoticed—Hernandez has been named Mid-Hudson Conference Athlete of the Week three times this season, as well as National Player of the Week on February 26th, 2025. The athletics program here at WCC has been lucky enough to watch his skills grow over the past two years, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Elijah Hernandez.
