After postponing their game the day before due to inclement weather, the Vikings were ready to take on the Colts for the first time this season. Although Westchester has not lost to Orange County since 2019, they fell short in the end with the final score of 8-7.
Orange County started off the scoring with a run in the first and two more in the top of the third. Westchester would put themselves on the board during the fourth inning with a run. The Colts, wanting to secure their lead, scored another three runs in the fifth. The Vikings quickly responded with two runs and another one in the bottom of the sixth. Orange County would end their scoring with their final two runs in the 8th inning, while the Vikings would finish with three more. It was a close game, but in the end, the Vikings could not make up for their deficit.
Pitching five innings was Michael Dawson. Though he gave up 6 runs, only 2 were earned. He gave up 5 hits while striking out 5. Robert Keller pitched three innings, with 1 out of 2 runs being earned. Just giving up 3 hits, Keller also struck out 5. Crossing home plate three times was Joseph Cohen. Westchester also saw runs from Elijah Villanueva, Nick Vendola, Lucas Feliciano, and Michael Tiseo.
Due to more postponed games due to rain, the Vikings will play Manhattanville University this Tuesday, April 8th, at 3:30pm in Purchase, NY.
