Valhalla, NY - The tradition of kicking off summer with a football alumini gathering continued last week as former student-athletes and supporters gathered for the 2025 Michael Bellantoni Sports Alumni Barbecue.  The annual event was renamed and re-branded as an opportunity for all sports alumni to reunite for years to come.  The 2025 reunion was renamed after Michael Bellantoni, who passed away in October of 2024.   Bellantoni was one of the most revered members of the 72-74 Football teams, Mike came to WCC as a standout player from Sleepy Hollow High School.  He began his football career with the Vikings as Wide Receiver before moving to Defensive Back and Kick Returner.  For the 1974 season he earned All-Conference and All-American accolades as he established school records in interceptions (9), and punt returns (18).  

This year's event was one of the best yet with over 30 former players, supporters and alumni attending including many WCC Sports Hall of Famers.  Members of the 1971,'73, '75, and '76 football teams (all in the Hall of Fame) were present.  In addition, individual members of the Hall included Andre Hererra (2008), Don Weigand (2011), Max Bowman (2023), Don Scarcella (2024), and John Caruso (2024).

WCC will look to build on this tradition in the future as it will not only serve as a football team reunion, but one for all Westchester Sports Alumni in the future.  

The Football Alumni have also set a goal to fund a named scholarship with a goal of raising $15,000 through combined pledges over a 3 year period.  If you are interested in donating to this cause, please click here.
