Valhalla, NY - Yesterday the Lady Vikings of Westchester hosted the #8 Union County College.

 

Right from the beginning it was a physical battle that was back and forth. Turnovers were the story early as Westchester had 10 of them in the first quarter but still found themselves in the game. After 1 it was 22-12. In the second WCC would amp up the pressure and start knocking down some shots. Westchester would win the second quarter by a score of 13 to 10 and find themselves down 7 heading into the break.

 

As the second quarter kicked off it had a very similar feel to the first half in terms of the physicality and defense that was being played. The Lady Vikings were only down 5 with 3 minutes to go in the third. However, Jasmin Mckay would have a big second half and catapult Union to a big lead and win over SUNY WCC. Sophomore Angelica Rios(Ossining, NY/Ossining High School) had a team high 12 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. 

 

Westchester will return to action tomorrow in Trenton New Jersey as they head south to face the #17 team Mercer County Community College. It will be the Lady Vikings second game in a row vs a ranked opponent. They will play at 5:00 PM followed by the men's team at 7:00 PM. Come out and support!!
