Vikings Stay Hot and Cruise to 15-0 Shutout Over CCM

Apr 2

Valhalla, NY - The Westchester CC Vikings delivered a statement performance Wednesday, overwhelming the CCM Titans in a dominant 15–0 shutout fueled by a relentless first-inning explosion.

Westchester seized control immediately, erupting for nine runs in the opening frame. Mercer Jordan(Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) sparked the rally with an RBI single, while Jason Jackson(Arlington High School) and Sebastian Ramirez each forced in runs after being hit by pitches. Gianni Generoso(Walter Panas High School) followed with a run-scoring single before a fielder's choice off the bat of Chris Echols(Somers, NY/John F. Kennedy Preparatory School) brought home two more. The exclamation point came moments later, when Freddy Heymach(Pawling, NY/Pawling High School) turned on a pitch and raced around the bases for a three-run inside-the-park home run, igniting the Vikings' bench and putting the game firmly out of reach.

Heymach led the charge with a flawless 3-for-3 performance, adding a single in the third inning and a double in the fourth to cap a dynamic day at the plate.

The Vikings continued to apply pressure in the third inning, capitalizing on a CCM error and another RBI single from Jordan to extend their commanding lead.

On the mound, Rober Keller(Mahopac, NY/Mahopac High School) was in complete control from start to finish. The right-hander tossed five shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five and walking two, silencing the Titans' lineup and securing the victory.

Westchester totaled 10 hits in the contest, with Jordan and Generoso each recording multiple hits. The Vikings also wreaked havoc on the basepaths—Adriel Rodriguez(Yonkers, NY/Saunders High School) and Heymach each stole multiple bases as the team piled up five stolen bases overall. Defensively, Westchester remained sharp, turning a double play to preserve the shutout.

From the opening pitch, the Vikings set the tone—and never let up.

Today's game against Western Connecticut State JV has been cancelled due to rain. However WCC will return to action in a big time double header on Saturday against rival UCONN Avery Point. It will be a rematch from this past Saturday where the Vikings won 9-4. It will be home at Vikings Field where game 1 will start at 12:00 PM and game 2 will be at 2:30.
