Game 1
Valhalla, NY - Freddy Heymach(Pawling, NY/Pawling High School) delivered a monster performance, driving in seven runs on three hits to lead the Westchester CC Vikings to a 13–4 win over SUNY Colts on Thursday.
Westchester struck first on Heymach's solo home run in the opening inning, and after SUNY tied it at 1–1, the Vikings broke the game open in the second. Westchester scored five runs in the frame, highlighted by Heymach's bases-clearing double to take a 6–1 lead.
Heymach added another three-run double in the seventh to cap his dominant day at the plate.
On the mound, Vasili Kelesidis(Stamford, CT/Stamford High School) went the distance, tossing seven innings while allowing four runs (two earned) and striking out seven. The Vikings also showed patience offensively, drawing seven walks, while Brandon Davis(Danbury, CT/Danbury High School) chipped in with a 2-for-3 performance.
Game 2
Game 2 had Westchester falling short in a comeback effort.
Westchester CC rallied from an early eight-run deficit but fell just short in a 9–7 loss to the SUNY Orange Colts on Friday.
Orange seized control early, scoring in each of the first three innings behind RBI hits from Grogan, Fernandez, and Morino to build a commanding lead.
Westchester answered with a determined comeback, chipping away with timely hits and disciplined at-bats to pull within two runs late. The Vikings finished with 11 hits, led by multi-hit efforts from Jason Jackson(LaGrange,NY/Arlington High School), Freddy Heymach(Pawling, NY/Pawling High School), and Austin Jorgensen(Poughkeepsie,NY/Our Lady of Lourdes High School), while Jackson and Heymach each drove in two.
Robert Keller(Mahopac,NY/Mahopac High School) took the loss, with Justin Owens(Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville High School) providing strong relief. Sanchez earned the win for SUNY, which totaled 12 hits and held off Westchester's late surge to secure the victory.
Game 3
Westchester would bounce back in game 3 with a dominant 12-1 win.
Westchester CC Vikings answered early and never looked back, rolling past the Colts 12–1 on Friday.
SUNY took a brief lead in the first on an RBI single from Fontaine, but Westchester responded in the third as Heymach tied the game with an RBI single and Mercer Jordan(Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Vikings ahead for good.
The game broke open in the fifth, when Westchester scored six runs. Davis doubled in a run, Jordan added an RBI single, Chris Echols(Somers,NY/John F. Kennedy Preparatory School) worked a bases-loaded walk, and John Avellino(New Rochelle, NY/Salesian High School) delivered the big blow with a three-run double.
Chris Peralta(East Elmhurst, NY/Christ The King) earned the win with five strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out six. The Vikings totaled 10 hits, with four players recording two apiece, while Avellino led the way with three RBIs in the dominant victory.
Game 4
Westchester CC Vikings couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 5–2 to Orange County CC on Monday despite out-hitting them 9–6.
The Vikings struck first on an RBI single from Peter Portugues(Mount Kisco, NY/Fox Lane High School), but the Colts quickly responded. Kerzner's two-run double in the first gave the Colts the lead, and RBI hits from Atwell and Fernandez extended it to 5–1 through three innings.
Westchester continued to battle, with Jackson and Heymach each collecting two hits. Heymach added a solo home run in the seventh, but the Vikings couldn't close the gap.
Tyler Senft(Greenwich,CT.Greenwich High School) took the loss, while Joe Grullon(Bronx, NY/Archbishop Stepinac High School) provided five strong scoreless innings in relief. Rounds earned the win for SUNY, keeping Westchester in check early as the Colts held on.
With the series tied at 2 a piece a pivotal 5th game will take place on this Saturday on May 2nd. The game will be home and first pitch will be at 12:00 PM. Come out and support!!
