Valhalla, NY - Westchester CC delivered a thrilling, late-inning knockout on Friday, storming back for an 11–6 victory over UCCC in a game that swung wildly until the final frame.
The Vikings set the tone early with a first-inning run, but UCCC answered in the third on Gallagher's RBI single. Westchester didn't flinch. In the bottom half, Jason Jackson(Arlington High School) sparked the offense with a ringing double, Oscar Almanzar(Dominican Republic) followed with a sacrifice fly, and a UCCC miscue brought another run across to give the Vikings a 4–1 edge.
Freddy Heymach(Pawling,NY/Pawling High School) extended the lead in the fifth, launching a solo shot to left that electrified the dugout and pushed the advantage to 5–1. But just when it seemed Westchester was in control, UCCC delivered a stunning punch in the seventh—five runs on four hits—to flip the game and take a 6–5 lead.
With the momentum gone and the pressure at its peak, the Vikings answered with an explosive inning. Jeremiah Rock(Carmel, NY/Carmel High School) stepped in and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game, igniting the rally. Moments later, Chris Echols(Somers,NY/John F. Kennedy Preparatory School) ripped a clutch two-run double into the gap, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Before UCCC could recover, Heymach delivered the final blow—a two-run single to cap a five-run outburst and slam the door on the comeback.
Chris Peralta(East Elmhurst, NY/Christ the King) earned the win with a gritty 6⅔ innings, allowing four runs (three earned) while striking out five. Justin Owens(Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville High School) came on in relief to secure the final outs. Westchester's offense was relentless, piling up 13 hits. Echols drove in four runs from the eight spot, while Jordan and Heymach each collected four hits in dominant performances at the plate. Jackson added two hits. In a game defined by momentum swings and late-inning drama, Westchester CC had the final—and loudest—answer.
Game 2
In a game defined by tension, precision, and one decisive swing, Westchester CC outlasted UCCC for a 2–0 shutout victory on Saturday.
For five innings, it was a pure pitcher's duel. Every at-bat carried weight, every baserunner felt magnified—and Senft was in complete command. The Vikings' starter carved through the UCCC lineup with efficiency, allowing just three hits over six scoreless innings without issuing a single walk.
UCCC's Umhey was just as tough, matching zeros and keeping Westchester off the board despite constant pressure. The deadlock held until the bottom of the sixth, when the game finally broke open.
With two runners on and the crowd on edge, Echols stepped in and delivered the breakthrough—lacing a clutch double into the gap to drive in both runs and ignite the Vikings' dugout.
From there, it was all about finishing. Jackson took the ball in the seventh and overpowered UCCC, striking out the side in dominant fashion to slam the door and preserve the shutout.
Echols, batting out of the eight spot, provided all the offense with two RBIs, while Austin Jorgensen(Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) fueled the lineup with a perfect 2-for-2 performance.
Tyler Senft pitched an absolute gem, going 6 strong innings walking no batters and only giving up 3 hits. Then Jackson slammed the door out of the pen earning the save while striking out the side in the 7th.
In a game where every pitch mattered, Westchester CC stayed patient, struck at the perfect moment, and let its arms carry the rest.
