After two years away from competition, the Westchester Community College Vikings returned this season with one goal in mind — bringing championship golf back to Westchester. Mission accomplished.
The Vikings capped off a remarkable comeback campaign by capturing the Mid-Hudson Conference Championship and finishing as runners-up at the Region 15 Tournament, narrowly behind longtime rival Nassau Community College. More importantly, Westchester punched its ticket to the National Championship Tournament, continuing one of the most impressive turnarounds in recent program history.
Throughout the season, the Vikings showed consistency, resilience, and championship-level composure, proving they belonged among the region's elite despite the program's two-year hiatus. Their strong postseason performance was highlighted by three players earning All-Region Second Team honors.
Tyler Bradshaw(New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle High School) led the way with a two-day score of 179, while Jack Canalin(Baldwinsville, NY/Encinal High School) and Steven Alvarez(Brookfield, CT/Danbury High School) each carded impressive tournament scores of 184.
It is also important to note that Emily Hernandez(Hartsdale, NY/Saunders High School) will compete at Nationals individually so congratulations on a fantastic season Emily!
What began as a season focused on rebuilding quickly turned into a championship run. Now, with conference hardware secured and a nationals berth earned, the Vikings will look to carry their momentum onto the national stage and continue making Westchester proud.
