Valhalla, NY - After delivering one of the most remarkable individual seasons in program history while helping guide the program to a long-awaited championship breakthrough, Freddy Heymach(Pawling, NY/Pawling High School) has officially cemented himself as one of the greatest players to ever wear a Westchester Community College Vikings uniform.
The sophomore standout put together a historic 2026 campaign that saw him dominate offensively, anchor the defense, and lead Westchester back to the top of Region 15 baseball for the first time in nearly a decade.
At the center of the Vikings' success this season was Heymach, whose leadership and consistency helped propel Westchester to its first Region 15 Championship in eight years, marking a monumental achievement for the program and a defining moment in one of the school's most memorable baseball seasons.
His outstanding performance throughout the spring earned him some of the highest honors in junior college baseball.
Heymach was named an NJCAA All-American Second Team selection, recognizing him as one of the top players in the country. He was also awarded Region 15 Player of the Year honors and earned a spot on the Mid-Hudson Conference First Team after putting together one of the most dominant seasons by any player in the region.
Offensively, the sophomore infielder produced numbers that rewrote portions of the Westchester record books.
Heymach finished the season with an incredible .521 batting average, one of the highest marks in the nation, while blasting 7 home runs and driving in 60 RBIs. His consistency at the plate turned him into one of the most dangerous hitters in junior college baseball and helped fuel one of the best offensive seasons in Westchester Community College baseball history.
For a large portion of the season, Heymach held the highest batting average in all of college baseball, spanning every collegiate level in the country. By the end of the year, he finished 2nd overall in batting average across the entire NJCAA, including Division I, Division II, and Division III, further proving that he was not only one of the best junior college players in the country, but one of the most productive hitters anywhere in collegiate baseball.
While his offensive numbers were historic, his impact defensively was equally impressive.
As the Vikings' everyday second baseman, Heymach showcased elite defensive ability all season long, earning the prestigious Gold Glove Award at second base after consistently making highlight-worthy plays and serving as one of the most dependable defenders in the region.
His combination of offensive production, defensive excellence, and leadership helped transform Westchester into a championship-caliber program while putting together a season that will forever be remembered among the greatest individual campaigns in school history.
Although his time wearing Viking blue and gold has come to an end, the next chapter of his baseball journey is already set.
Following his historic sophomore season, Heymach will continue both his academic and athletic career at the Division I level after committing to Marist College, where he will compete in the highly competitive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while continuing to build on an already exceptional collegiate career.
Freddy Heymach leaves Westchester not only as an All-American, a champion, and one of the nation's most dominant players — but as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in program history.
From rewriting record books to bringing a championship back to Westchester, Freddy Heymach's legacy as a Viking will not soon be forgotten.
