Billy McClure

Billy McClure is entering his 16th season as the Vikings Head Baseball Coach. He has led the Vikings to eight Mid-Hudson Conference Championships ('11, '12, '13, '15, '16, '17, '18, '23), six Region XV Championships ('12, '14, '15, '16, '17, 18), two East District Titles ('14, '24) and earned two trips to the Division II College World Series in Oklahoma in 2014 and 2024.  McClure has been selected Region XV Coach of the Year 6 times ('12, '14, '15, ’16, '17, 18) and East District Coach of the Year twice, in 2014 and in 2024.  Under McClure's tenure, the Vikings have been nationally ranked during seven different seasons. They finished 2014 season ranked 9th in the nation.  The 2015 team was ranked as high as 4th in the nation. 
 
Along with his Head Coaching duties, Coach McClure serves as the recruiting coordinator and 3rd base coach.  He works with all aspects of the team including pitching, hitting, and defense.  Prior to being named Head Coach, McClure served as the assistant coach at Westchester CC from 2004-2009. 
 
During his 15 seasons, McClure has coached 83 All-Region Players. Within those 83 players, seven were selected Region XV Player of the Year (Pat Farina '12,  Justin Cassinelli '14, Steve Figueroa '15, Austin Pollack ’16, Scott Giordano '17 & '18, Luisbert Frias '23, Tommy Poggi '24) and seven were selected Region XV Pitcher of the Year ( Alan Carey '12,'13,  Alec Eisenberg '13, Anthony Shkrelja '15, Scott Giordano ‘17, Thomas Mark '22, Thomas Browne '23, Jackson Kossow '24).  McClure also coached six All-Americans (Justin Casinelli '14 1st Team, Fabio Ricci '14 3rd Team, Steve Figueroa '15 1st Team, Austin Pollack '16 2nd team, Scott Giordano '18 3rd team, Tommy Poggi '24 3rd Team).

Numerous players have moved onto NCAA and NAIA schools under McClure's tenure. Several players after their collegiate career ended have moved on to play professionally in the Can Am League, Frontier League, Atlantic League, Pacific Association, and Empire Baseball League. 

In the year 2016, former Viking pitcher Joel Toribio was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 34th round of the MLB Draft. 

In his 4th season as head coach, McClure won his 100th game against Mid-Hudson Conference rival Orange CC on March 30th, 2013 by the score of 4-1.

In 2015, his 6th season, Coach McClure set the all-time single season win mark with 43 wins. The Vikings were also ranked a program best #4 in the nation at the DII NJCAA level.

On March 13, 2016, he won his 200th career game as the Vikings Head Coach in his 7th season with a 6-5 victory over the Ontario Blue Jays down in Florida.

On March 12, 2019, McClure captured his 300th career win with a 4-2 win over Monroe College JV.

On April 17, 2022, Coach McClure notched his 350th career victory with a win over Mid-Hudson Conference foe Orange CC 13-7.

On November 18, 2022, Billy was inducted into the SUNY Westchester Vikings Sports Hall of Fame.

On February 25, 2024, McClure got his 400th career win with an 11-5 victory over Cecil College.

On May 27, 2024, Coach Billy McClure led the team to its first NJCAA D2 World Series victory of #9 Kellogg CC by the score of 10-6.

Entering the 2025 season, Billy currently holds a .679 win percentage.
 
Coach McClure graduated from Westchester CC with an Associates degree in Liberal Arts in 2000 and received his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Pace University in 2003.
