In July of 2017, Westchester Community College Director of Athletics Michael Belfiore announced the hiring of veteran Junior College basketball coach Sean Kelly to rebuild the men's basketball program at WCC. Kelly, who enjoyed remarkable success at two different stops as Head Men's Basketball Coach, brings to WCC more than 150 wins as a Head Coach in the NJCAA.

Most recently, Kelly spent five seasons as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Bronx Community College, finishing his tenure there with a 74-43 overall record. The Broncos earned three CUNYAC Championship Game appearances, winning the conference championship in 2013. Highlights at Bronx CC included a 20-win season in 2015-16 when Bronx CC reached as high as #8 in the NJCAA Division III standings. Kelly also led the Broncos to two NJCAA Region 15 Final Fours, and the 2013 Region XV Championship Game.

Prior to his stint at Bronx CC, Kelly served as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Bergen (NJ) Community College, where he captured consecutive Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference Championships in 2009 and 2010. He led his 2009-10 team to an undefeated regular season campaign finishing the regular season with a perfect 30-0 record. Bergen advanced to back-to-back NJCAA Division III Final Four appearances in both 2009 and 2010. Kelly set records at Bergen for most wins in school history (34) while his team held the number one ranking in the country for the entire regular season. Kelly was selected Region XIX and District 6 Coach of the Year in both 2009 and 2010.

Kelly also spent nine seasons as an Assistant Coach at nearby Mercy College, where he was involved in all aspects of their Division II Men's Basketball program.

Over his career, Kelly has mentored 3 NJCAA All-Americans, 15 All-Region players and has placed countless players in NCAA scholarship situations.

He holds a Master’s in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. He currently resides in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, NY with his wife Barbara and his two daughters. He is also a teacher at Nanuet Senior High School.
