Box Score 2 April 28, 2017 – Valhalla, NY
The WCC Baseball team took the first of four games vs SUNY Orange on Thursday, topping the Colts 9-3 at West Field. The series continued on Friday where the Vikings were triumphant 8-2.
On Thursday, both Orange and Westchester exchanged runs in the first two innings. But 4 runs in the bottom of the third gave WCC the lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Nick Cona (Walter Panas HS/Cortlandt Manor, NY) got the start and was steady over six innings, giving up two runs and striking out seven. One of the offensive stars was
Jon Carlo Angiolillo (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY), who went 1 for 2 with two walks and two RBI's.
Felix Camacho (St. Raymond's HS/Bronx, NY) also had two hits and 2 RBIs to power the team to victory.
Steve Guzman (JFK HS/Bronx, NY) poked three hits, including a triple while going 3 for 5.
Friday was
Scottie Giordano's (Croton Harmon HS/Croton, NY) day, as he not only got the start for the Vikings but provided all the offense the team needed for the game. He pitched seven innings giving up just one run, while scattering seven hits with six strike outs. In the fourth, after the Vikings scored on a fielder's choice RBI by
Alonso Tenya (Lima, Peru/Scarsdale, NY), Giordano laced a drive right center field that cleared the wall for a 3-run homer.
CJ Sager (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs for the game. WCC would tack on four more runs later in the game in route to the 8-2 win.
The Vikings' season record now stands at 28 and 11 (10-4 within Region XV) as they round out the series with the Colts at SUNY Orange on Saturday, April 29
th in Middletown, NY.
