Box Score (West Harrison, NY) -
Nicholas Antenucci (Yonkers, NY/Stepinac) threw a complete-game shutout, and
Steve Messerschmitt (Carmel, NY/Carmel HS) went 2 for 3 with an RBI as the Westchester Community College Baseball team downed visiting Kingsborough Community College, 10-0 on Tuesday at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison, NY. With their third straight win, the Vikings improve to 3-2 for the 2018 season.
After the teams were knotted 0-0 at the end of the first inning, the Vikings bats came alive during the second stanza as WCC scored eight runs to break the game wide open. A pair of bases-loaded walks, and two RBI hits by
Paul Franzese (Somers, NY/Somers HS) and
Jose Delacruz (New York, NY/George Washington HS) were key for Westchester during the rally.
That was all Antenucci would need. After a shaky first inning, the sophomore settled in to dominate the Wave, allowing only three hits while striking out one batter.
Also for WCC,
Bobby Wootten (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley HS) went 2 for 2 with a double and a run scored.
Westchester Community College is slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 7 when they host Borough of Manhattan Community College at 2:30 p.m. However, with the pending snowstorm, the status of the game is very much up in the air. Please check back for the latest scheduling updated.
