Stefania Rinaldi (White Plains, NY/Valhalla HS) turned in the finest performance of her young career, amassing a double-double with 13 kills and 11 assists - to go with five service aces and eight digs - and sophomore
Melody Pabon (Bronx, NY/Celia Cruz) also had a career night with 15 kills and six digs, but the Westchester Community College Women's Volleyball team lost a four-set battle with Ulster Community College, 3-1 on Thursday night at Ulster CC. With the loss, the Vikings are now 5-14 overall, and they finish the regular season 3-7 in Mid-Hudson Conference play.
Westchester won the opening set 25-22, and were in the next three sets until the very end, but Ulster took all three sets, 25-22, 25-20, and 25-19.
Westchester did combine for a season-high 40 kills as a team, and had 35 digs, but 43 combined attack errors were the culprit on Thursday night.
The Vikings received a stellar effort from sophomore
Gabriela Faria (Yonkers, NY/Saunders HS), who had nine kills and a career-high six solo blocks.
Westchester CC returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when the Vikings will defend the Mid-Hudson Conference Championship they earned in 2018. Fourth seeded WCC will face top-seeded Rockland Community College in the opening round, with the winner advancing to the championship match on Tuesday night. The championships begin at 7:00 p.m., and will take place at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, New York.
