Noe Fleurimond (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands HS) added 16 points and four rebounds as the Westchester Community College Men's Basketball team opened the 2021-2022 season with a 101-58 win over Mount Saint Vincent JV on Saturday at the Johnny Jones Memorial Tip-Off Tournament at Westchester CC. The win marks the return of men's basketball to Viking Gymnasium for the first time in 625 days.
Westchester stormed ahead early, and led 53-28 at halftime, and then cruised to victory as four Vikings scored in double-figures, and 11 different Westchester CC players scored points.
The win was also the first career victory for Interim Head Coach
Miles Tompkins.
Westchester shot an impressive 52% from the floor, compared to 34% for Mount Saint Vincent, and the Vikings only turned the ball over 11 times, compared to 32 turnovers for the visiting Dolphins.
Westchester CC returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 7 when the Vikings close the Tip-Off Tournament with a 3:00 p.m. match-up with Hostos CC, who defeated Bergen CC 77-65 on Saturday.
