(Middletown, NY) - Three Vikings scored in double figures, and sophomore
Noe Fleurimond (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands HS) led the Vikings with 17 points and added 11 rebounds, but the Westchester Community College Men's Basketball team lost its second straight game, 81-76 to Orange Community College, the nation's 20th ranked team on Tuesday night at Orange CC. With the loss, the Vikings are now 6-3 overall, and 2-2 in Mid-Hudson Conference and NJCAA Region XV competition.
Westchester's two road losses during the last four days have come by a combined eight points. Tuesday night's game was particularly frustrating as the Vikings either held the lead or were tied for more than 37 of the 40 minutes played. Westchester came out of the gate fast, opening up a 17-4 lead with 13:57 to play in the first half, and the Vikings led by as many as 14 points, 38-24 with 4:33 to play before halftime, However, the Colts (8-0) ended the first half on a 13-5 run to make it a 43-37 lead at halftime. From there, the teams went back and forth throughout the second half. Orange took its first lead of the game, 57-55 with just over nine minutes to play, and led 75-73 with just under a minute to play, but the Vikings just could not close the gap.
Sophomore
Malik Moore (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe HS) scored 15 points, while freshman
Omar Nkonde (New York, NY/Thurgood Marshall Academy) added 13 points.
Westchester CC returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 11 when the Vikings travel to Kingsborough Community College for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
