(Bronx, NY) - Freshman Brian Guaman (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) made 11 saves, including several of the spectacular variety, and the Viking defense held one of the most potent offensive teams in NJCAA Division III Soccer off the board for more than 45 minutes, but the Westchester Community College Men's Soccer team lost its second consecutive game, 5-0 to Monroe-Bronx, the nation's fourth-ranked team, on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Vikings are now 2-3 overall, and 2-3 against NJCAA Region XV competition. The game was played at SUNY Maritime.

Monroe (6-1, 5-0) started the game fast with several scoring opportunities, and opened the scoring at 8:58. The Express made it 2-0 at 37:21, but from there, play evened out for a stretch of more than 45 minutes, with both teams enjoying a variety of scoring chances. However, Westchester's push to break into the scoring column wore the Vikings down, and Monroe pounced during the final eight minutes of play. The Express scored at 82:10, 86:19, and 87:38 for the 5-0 final.

Monroe out-shot Westchester 32-7, and had 10 corner kicks compared to Westchester's four.

The Vikings return to action on Saturday, October 2 when they return home to host Orange Community College for a 1:00 p.m. Mid-Hudson Conference/Region XV tilt.
