Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Out of Reach - Men's Soccer Unable To Score A Win Vs Ulster

October 3, 2022
Valhalla, NY - The men's soccer team's season hit a bump in their road to success as they fell to Ulster 4-0 on Saturday.  Having played well against top teams recently, the Vikings were hopeful that they'd top the reigning Mid-Hudson Conference Champs to maintain a chance of hosting this year's MHC Championship.  However, the Senators scored early and often in the first half as the Vikings were unable to convert on their scoring chances, resulting in the 4-goal defeat.

Though Westchester was outscored, the Vikings had their chances.  Facing 16 shots on goal, the Senators keeper was forced to make 13 saves.  WCC was just unable to break through with a conversion and stay in the game.   By halftime, Ulster led 3-0, a margin that was too much to overcome throughout the game.

Exon Umanzor (Ossining, NY/Ossining HS) led the team with 4 shots on goal.

The Vikings fall to 5-5 overall on the season, but being that Ulster is Division II they do remain 5-2 within the region.  There is a chance of a rematch though as the teams currently sit ranked as #1 and #2 within the Mid-Hudson Conference standings, where the top 2 teams will play for the MHC Championship.

Westchester returns to action on Tuesday, October 4th at 4pm at home on Barret Field as they welcome Bronx Community College.
