Valhalla, NY – Powered by his fifth 20+ point performance by
Ed Beqiri (Archbishop Stepinac/Yonkers, NY), the Vikings sailed past Suffolk Community College 92-52 improving to 4-6 overall.
Westchester would start off strong against the Sharks with a 6-0 run to open the game. The first half was powered by a balanced defensive and offensive attack by SUNY WCC.
Omar Nkonde (Thurgood Marshall Academy/Harlem, NY) scored 12 of his 19 points in the Vikings 10 point lead at the half.
The second half of the game saw WCC open with a 12-0 run before the Sharks (4-5) scored their first bucket. The Vikings held Suffolk to 22 total points in the second half helping them run away with the victory.
Five Vikings scored in double digits, Beqiri with a game-high 20, Nkonde had 19, and
Jaiden Brown (Putnam Science Academy/Cambria Heights, NY),
Joshua Alexandre (Life Sciences Secondary/New York, NY), and
Dwayne Pennicooke (Sacred Heart/Mount Vernon, NY) all had 12 points each.
Westchester's next game will be on Thursday December 8
th when they travel up to regional/conference foe SUNY Ulster for a 7pm game in Stone Ridge, NY.
