Valhalla, NY – Despite another 20+ performance by
Adriana McFadden (Ossining HS/Ossining, NY), the Vikings fell 59-49 to Raritan Valley. The loss brings Westchester to 5-12 on the season.
The first quarter started off with a back and forth battle where it saw both teams start off slow from the floor with Raritan taking the early 17-11 lead.
Quarter number two was the shining moment for SUNY Westchester. The back and forth battle ensued however the Lady Vikings got hot. 15 of McFadden's 27 points fell for the Sophomore during the quarter while the defensive rotation of her,
Irene Maris (Tuckahoe HS/Bronxville, NY),
Lanaysa Pridgen (Gorton HS/Yonkers, NY),
Shanice Wilcox (New Rochelle, NY),
Krismelis Melo (LaGuardia HS/Bronx, NY), and
Gianna Marziliano (Harrison HS/West Harrison, NY) held the Lions to 11 total points. The Vikings held a four point lead heading into halftime.
Both the third and fourth quarters saw Raritan Valley (7-11) put on a defensive hold on Westchester only allowing 17 total points to be scored. The Viking seven point lead diminished with 12 seconds left in the third quarter. At one point in the fourth SUNY WCC was only down three points with 2:40 left in the game, however, the Lions would end the game with a 9-2 run to put them in the win column.
The Vikings were lead by McFadden's 27 point, 10 rebound, five steal performance as well as Maris' 10 point 10 rebound game.
Westchester's next game will be tomorrow, January 19
th against #4 Community College of Rhode Island here in Viking Gymnasium. Tip-off will be at 6pm.
