Browne's Osso Good! Viking Sophomores Shutout Timberwolves to Secure Two Wins

Winter Haven, FL - The Vikings continued their hot streak with two fantastic wins over SUNY Adirondack Thursday afternoon 2-0 and 6-0. Westchester is now 17-2 overall and 8-0 in the RussMatt Invitational Tournament!

Game 1: 2-0 W

Game one was one of the fastest games to be played on the year. It took an hour and a half to get through a full seven innings. Both pitchers pumped strikes and left batters guessing through four innings of play. It wasn't until the top of the fifth inning when the Vikings got on the board thanks to Anthony Dolce (North Salem HS/North Salem, NY) who launched a deep solo homerun over the left field fence. Westchester would add an insurance run thanks to an RBI hit from Weston Baronian (Pascack Valley HS/River Vale, NJ) scoring Luisbert Frias (Port Chester HS/Port Chester, NY). The two runs was more than enough for starting pitcher Thomas Browne (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY). Browne kept the Timberwolves at bay by going the distance, scattering five hits, walking one batter, and striking out seven.

Game 2: 6-0 W

Browne's stellar performance must of rubbed off on Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY). Once again both starting pitchers kept batters guessing in anticipation hoping the other would make a crucial mistake. The Vikings would get on the board first in the bottom of the third inning. The one run would be more than enough for Osso who didn't allow a hit until top of the sixth inning. The Westchester offense exploded in the bottom half of the sixth thanks to a monster grand slam from Baronian. In his complete game victory, Osso would scatter 3 hits and strike out four to earn his third win of the year.

Westchester closes out their spring break trip tomorrow with a 9:30am game against Holyoke Community College at Lake Bonny Park in Lakeland, FL.
