Valhalla, NY – The Vikings got back to their winning ways with a 7-1 victory over Manhattanville College's JV team Wednesday afternoon. Westchester is now 19-3 overall.
Coming off of a tough loss the day before to a solid Sussex team, the Vikings were eager to get back into the win column and that fell in the hands of Sophomore pitcher
Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY). Osso, who is committed to go to Manhattanville College to further pursue his baseball career and education, has been lights out this season sporting a 3-0 record coming into the game with 16 innings pitched, scattering 11 hits and only walking six batters. From his first pitch until the end of the fourth inning, Ryan blanked the visiting Valiants while giving up five hits and fanning six batters in his fourth victory of the year.
Not to be outdone, Westchester's offense continued their dominate hitting giving Osso and the rest of the pitching staff more than enough breathing room for the win.
Tommy Poggi (Briarcliff HS/Briarcliff, NY) would lead the Vikings offense by going three for five with three RBI's and two stolen bases.
Gavin Carlucci (Walter Panas HS/Garrison, NY) would add two hits of his own, one being a double, and an RBI with two stolen bases and two runs scored.
The Vikings return to action this weekend against district opponent UConn Avery-Point in a four-game set. First two games will be played on Saturday March 25
th at Washington Park in Groton, CT with the series finishing up on Sunday March 26
th right here at Vikings Field. Both doubleheaders will begin at 12pm.
