Valhalla, NY – Yesterday was a picture-perfect day for baseball as the Vikings took on Western Connecticut State University's JV team at Vikings Field. For Westchester's offense, it was déjà vu. The Vikings pounded out 21 hits en route to their 24
th victory over the Wolves 24-5.
The Viking offense would explode in the bottom of the first scoring nine runs breaking the game open early. This would be more than plenty for starting pitcher
Alex Korn (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY) who would give up one earned run and strike out two in his two innings of work for his second victory of the year.
Thomas Mark (Brewster HS/Patterson, NY),
Javier Santiago (Pawling HS/Pawling, NY),
Matt Antolino (Fox Lane HS/Bedford, NY), and
Carlos Paulino (White Plains HS/White Plains, NY) would all add to the win by striking out the next 10 batters while scattering three hits in five innings.
The Westchester offense was led by nonother than
Luisbert Frias (Port Chester HS/Port Chester, NY) who's .495 batting average is ninth best in Division 2, went three for five with a double, three runs scored and six RBIs.
Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY) and
Gavin Carlucci (Walter Panas HS/Garrison, NY) would also add three hits and two RBIs each. In all, every Viking batter that entered the game, got on base whether it was a hit, walk, or by error.
SUNY WCC looks to rest up as they open Region/Mid-Hudson Conference play starting tomorrow (April 6
th) when they travel to Dutchess County, NY to face Dutchess Community College. First pitch is slated for 3:30pm, however, weather may be a factor. Please check with all Westchester Athletics social media platforms for the most up-to-date information.
