Vikings Take Home Big Win Over Conference Foe Sullivan

Valhalla, NY - Thanks to six Vikings scoring in double figures, Westchester evened up their Mid-Hudson Conference record with a 124-79 win over rival SUNY Sullivan last night.

What was a highly anticipated match-up since SUNY WCC upset the Generals back in the 2024 Region 15 Playoffs, the Vikings were just as eager to continue to make waves against their conference rival. The first half would start with a 10-2 run to give Westchester an early lead over Sullivan. The Vikings would then take a 16 point lead over the Generals (0-6, 0-3) at the 12:47 mark thanks to a Jayson Viera steal and jumper. SUNY WCC would then go up by 26 just after the 7:50 mark from back-to-back three pointers from Mody Siby who would ultimately have a career-high and team high 23 points on the night. The Vikings would continue to add to their lead before the halftime buzzer sounded inside Viking Gymnasium. Westchester would head into the locker room with a commanding 68-30 lead shooting 55% from the floor, 88% from the free-throw line, and a staggering 55% from beyond the arc. The Viking defense would hold the Generals to shooting 31& from the floor in the half.

The second half would see the Westchester bench score 32 of the teams 56 points with Robert Bori scoring 15 points and Dominique Bautista dropping 11 points en route to the 45 point win. The Vikings would finish the game shooting 53% from the floor, 91% from the charity stripe, and 43% from beyond the arc. Outside of Siby's 23 points, Elijah Hernandez would score 20 points and have eight assists and Mujahid Dine Yacoubou would have yet another double-double scoring 17 points and having 12 rebounds. Chris Kirkland would also add 15 points for the Viking staff. The Generals were led by Zyir Fowler who would have a game-high 30 points.

Westchester will now enjoy a little bit of a break before traveling out to Newark, New Jersey when they will take on the Wolverines of Essex County College on Saturday December 14th. Historically the games between the Vikings and Wolverines have been close with Westchester taking home a 93-86 win back on November 12th, 2024.
