Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

On 'Demoni!" Freshman Records Hat-Trick in Win Over #8 Kingsborough

Valhalla, NY – Men's Soccer continues to make a name for themselves in Regional play with a commanding 4-1 victory over eighth-ranked Kingsborough yesterday afternoon.

What was instilled in the team as the game of the week, the Vikings lived up to the challenge hosting the previously undefeated Wave of Kingsborough on the rain slicked Barrett Field in Valhalla.

The first half started off with a bang when Rony Theodore cranked out a 20-yard goal to put the #8 Wave up 1-0 in the 10th minute. After that goal, the Viking defense would lock in and not allow another goal for the rest of the 90-minute contest. Freshman Demoni Gordon would tie the game at one netting his seventh goal on the year with an assist from Lenan Pepic in the 21st minute. Demoni would play a crucial role in the 25th minute when he would be awarded a penalty kick. He would score his eighth goal of the season, second of the game, and put SUNY Westchester ahead of the Wave 2-1. A minute later, Jorge Ordonez would score for the Vikings on a beautiful cross assist from Zane Bramson extending Westchester's lead to 3-1 heading into halftime.

The icing on the cake would be Gordon's final goal of the game giving him a hat-trick and his 10th goal of the year in the 61st minute when Maximos Matailo would assist him putting SUNY WCC up 4-1. Westchester would out-shoot the Wave 16-10 (9-4 on goal) while Jonathan Bautista would earn the victory for the Vikings playing all 90 minutes in goal while a crewing three saves.

This marks on of the Vikings best start in program history with an overall record of 5-0-2 (5-0-3 in 2012) and they look to continue their history making season with a game against Bronx Community College on Tuesday October 1st. Kickoff for that game will be at 6:30pm under the lights at Valhalla High School.
