Valhalla, NY- Softball is back at WCC, and we are proud to announce the new head coach Ivey Cooper who looks to come and get the program up and running again and turn it into something special. "I am so excited to have the opportunity to coach at this great school. There is so much talent in this area and having the opportunity to bring in a wide variety of talent is just super exciting." said Cooper to AD Mike Belfiore after receiving the job.Â
Â
Cooper comes from a ton of experience at all different age levels coaching softball. He has done a lot of work with the younger group softball players but is ready to take that experience and take on a new challenge as he looks to build a program from the ground up.Â
Â
It is definitely great to have a former college coach with experience come in as Cooper was the lead assistant at SUNY Purchase. He has endless roles there and looks to take everything he learned from head coach Mark Sergio and bring that over here.
Â
"We know coach Cooper is going to give it everything he has because that's just who he is…", said Associate Head Baseball coach Bobby Rodriguez as they know each other from coaching on the outside.
Â
Westchester has gotten off to a great start athletically this fall and we hope that can continue on into the Spring now not just with baseball but softball as well. Congrats again to new WCC Women's Softball Head Coach, Ivey Cooper!
