Westchester Community College traveled to Branchburg, NJ this past Saturday to face Raritan Valley Community College. After a narrow two-point loss to the Golden Lions back in early November, the Vikings were eager to take them on once again—and this time, they secured it with a commanding 104-93 victory.
The Vikings saw three players reach double figures in scoring. Despite Raritan Valley having five players achieve the same feat, they were unable to overcome Westchester's relentless performance. Sophomore Elijah Hernandez led the charge with an impressive 36 points, followed by Mujahid Dine Yacoubou, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Robert Bori also made a significant impact, contributing 19 points to the scoreboard.
RVCC kept up with the pace of WCC, just trailing behind for most of the game. In the end, the Vikings resiliency and strategic approach helped them seal the win. Westchester entered halftime with a confident 49-41 lead and carried that same intensity into the second half. Their unwavering focus and determination held strong until the final buzzer, securing the well-earned win.
Westchester will return home this Thursday, February 6th, where they will take on the SUNY Ulster Senators. Tip off is set for 7pm in Viking Gymnasium.
