This past weekend, the Vikings traveled to Groton, CT, to face the University of Connecticut at Avery Point in a doubleheader. Ultimately, Westchester could not get many runs past UCAP, and fell short in both games.
In the first game, UCAP started the scoring off with two runs in the bottom of the second. In the top of the fourth, Freddy Heymach would score a run for the Vikings. Neither team would score again for the rest of the game, with a close final score of 2-1. Pitching for six innings, Michael Dawson gave up just two runs and had 9 strikeouts.
The later game was not as close as the first. Both teams would start with a run in the first inning. Once again, Heymach would score this run. For Westchester, this would be the only point they could get past UCAP. University of Connecticut at Avery Point scored another ten runs in the next four inning, before the game was called.
The Vikings return home to play Manhatanville University tomorrow, April 1st, at 3:30pm.
