Westchester welcomed Dominican University to Vikings Field yesterday. After seven innings in the sun, WCC took the win 20-10.
The Vikings would start the game with a bang, earning 11 runs in the second inning. Dominican University put themselves on the scoreboard in the fifth inning with 4 runs. Meanwhile, Westchester racked up another 5 runs. Both teams earned a run in the sixth inning. The Chargers, attempting to close the gap, scored 5 runs in the final inning. The Vikings responded with 3 runs of their own. Ultimately, Dominican University could not catch up to Westchester Community College, and the Vikings took the win.
WCC was led by Jhonny Ortiz who went 2 for 3 and scored 4 runs. Following him was Brandon Hernandez with 3 runs. Scoring 2 runs each were Freddy Heymach, Nick Vendola, Randel Weisner, Peter Portugues, Tristan Paredes, and Elijah Villanueva. Pitching for the Vikings was Christian Peralta who struck out 7.
Tomorrow, April 26th, Westchester will play Delaware Technical and Community College at Vikings Field in a doubleheader at 12:00pm and 2:30pm.
