The Vikings faced Delaware Technical Community College in a doubleheader yesterday, April 26th. After two hard-fought battles, the Vikings fell short in both games.
Both Westchester and Delaware scored a run each in the first inning. DTCC had a three run inning in the second. WCC, in an attempt to catch up, earned two more runs in the third. In the top of the fourth, Delaware got another three runs. Westchester responded with four more runs of their own. With the score being tied at 7-7, it was anyone's game. In the top of the sixth, Delaware scored four runs to take the lead. The game ended with a score of 11-7. Scoring three runs for the Vikings was Nick Vendola who also went 2 for 3. Following him with two runs was Brandon Hernandez. Freddy Heymach and Lucas Feliciano each earned a run for Westchester as well.
The Vikings would play Delaware once again later in the day, but would have the same result. Delaware started the scoring with two runs in the first inning. They doubled their score in the top of the second. Westchester responded with two runs in the bottom of the second. Closing the gap, they scored another run in the fourth inning, leaving them just one point behind Delaware. In the seventh and final inning, DTCC would get three more runs that sealed the deal. The game ended with a score of 7-3. The Vikings' runs are attributed to Freddy Heymach, Peter Portugues, and Lucas Feliciano.
