WCC Splits a Doubleheader as Kelesidis has a No-Hit Game

After two tough losses the day before, the Vikings faced Delaware Technical Community College in another doubleheader. Westchester Community College played an impressive first game, winning 7-1, but couldn't keep up in the second, losing 5-1.

The Vikings started off the first game with a bang, earning 3 runs in the first and 4 runs in the second. Already up by 7, it would be tough for Delaware to match their score. The middle of the game remained quiet, with neither team scoring any runs. In the seventh and final inning, DTCC would get one run in. Attributing 3 out of their 7 runs was Freddy Heymach. Each scoring a run each was Nick Vendola, Lucas Feliciano, Tristan Paredes, and Brandon Hernandez who went 3 for 4. Westchester Viking, Vasilios Kelesidis, earned the impressive achievement of having a no-hitter, allowing no base hits for Delaware.

The following game would not go the Vikings way. Delaware started the scoring with four runs in the top of the second. In the bottom of the third, Elijah Villanueva, would score their one and only run of the game. DTCC would get another run in the sixth inning. Pitching six innings for WCC was Derek DeResh who struck out 6.

The Westchester Baseball team will head to Scranton, PA for their next game against Lackawanna College. It is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th, at 3:30pm.
