Valhalla, NY- Yesterday the Westchester Vikings traveled to New Rochelle to take on the D1 Mustangs of Monroe University JV. This would be WCC's last regular season tune up game before the playoffs. Right from the jump it felt like one of those games that the men have been in so many times this season, the back and forth grind it out to the end kind of game. 

 

The entirety of the game was played within 7 points. No team took a larger lead than that and with about 1 minute to go it was a tie game. You had that feeling that whoever made the last shot would have a really good chance to win the game. This game it was Monroe that drained the eventual game winner with about a minute to go to beat the Vikings 72-69. 

 

Two sophomores had big days for the Vikings as Tarik Dacosta(Bronx, NY/Marist High School) had 24 points and 8 rebounds and right behind him was Tiziah Spears(Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn College Academy) who had 16 points and 7 rebounds.

 

With the regular season's conclusion yesterday for WCC they now look ahead to the playoffs. SUNY WCC finished as the #4 seed in Region 15, and will take on the tournaments host Orange County Community College who is the #1 seed and #19 ranked teams in the country for division 2. This game will take place in Middletown, NY at the Campus of Orange County Community College. Tip-off will be at 5:00 PM on Saturday February 28th. The winner of that will play the next day in the championship game against the winner of Rockland Community College who is the #2 seed and Ulster County Community College who is the #3 seed. The championship game will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday March 1st. Come out and support!!
