A Year of Excellence: Westchester Athletics

Jul 6

The 2025–26 season marked one of the most successful years in the history of Westchester Community College Athletics, as Viking teams excelled at the conference, regional, and national levels.

Westchester celebrated championship seasons from Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Golf. Women's Volleyball captured the Mid-Hudson Conference, Region 15, and North Atlantic District Championships before advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history. Women's Basketball and Baseball each won Mid-Hudson Conference and Region 15 Championships, while Golf claimed the Mid-Hudson Conference title and qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament.

The success continued across the department as Men's Soccer tied for first place in the regular season, defeated Nassau for the first time in 13 years, and finished as Mid-Hudson Conference runners-up. Men's Bowling qualified for the NJCAA National Championships, and both the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams produced All-Region runners who advanced to the NJCAA National Championships. Westchester also welcomed the return of Softball, which competed as a club program for the first time since 2015 and is set to return to varsity competition in 2027.

The Vikings' outstanding performances earned the program the Mid-Hudson Conference Walter J. Hauck All-Sports Award. Westchester student-athletes collected 19 All-Conference selections, 25 All-Region honors, and 29 Academic All-Region recognitions. The department also produced four conference and regional MVPs, three Region 15 Coaches of the Year, and two NJCAA All-Americans in Saniya Bell(Women's Basketball) and Freddy Heymach(Baseball).

From championships and national tournament appearances to academic achievement and individual honors, the 2025–26 season showcased the continued rise of Westchester Community College Athletics and established a new standard of excellence for Viking student-athletes.
