The 2025 cross country season was one to remember for the Westchester Community College Vikings.

After months of hard work, dedication, and countless miles of preparation, Valerya Ospina and Eric Soliz qualified for the NJCAA National Championship in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where they proudly represented Westchester Community College against some of the nation's top runners. Battling through difficult conditions that included snow-covered terrain and frigid temperatures, both athletes demonstrated the determination and resilience that defined the Vikings throughout the season.

Ospina delivered one of the finest performances in recent program history, crossing the finish line in an impressive 37th place overall. Her remarkable effort showcased not only her talent but also the tremendous progress of the program as a whole. Soliz likewise turned in an outstanding performance, competing with determination and representing Westchester with pride on the national stage.

The accomplishments of Ospina and Soliz served as the highlight of an already successful season and reflected the hard work put forth by the athletes and coaching staff throughout the year. Their achievements have raised the standard for future teams while inspiring the next generation of Vikings runners.

With a strong foundation in place and valuable experience gained from competing at the highest level, the future remains bright for Westchester cross country. The program will look to build upon its success and send even more runners to the national championship meet in the seasons ahead.
