Box Score 2 April 12, 2017 – Valhalla, NY
The Vikings took two of their last three as they wrapped up their regular season series vs Dutchess this past weekend, and picked up a game against Suffolk. They played DCC to a split on Sunday, losing 5-3 then winning, 9-5. On Monday, the team beat Suffolk CC 14-0.
John Reda (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) got the start for Westchester in the first game of Sunday's double header and pitched solidly striking out 10 batters in 6 innings of work while giving up two earned runs. However, the Viking defense was charged with four errors on the game, which opened the door for the Falcons to take the lead in the first. The team would trail the rest of the way as their comeback efforts came up short. Scottie Giordano (Croton Harmon HS/Croton, NY) went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
In the second game, the Vikings a 3-run deficit and scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th to earn the season split. Luis Gomez (St. Raymonds's HS/Bronx, NY) picked up his 4th win of the season after relieving starter Luke McDonagh (Carmel HS/Carmel, NY). Gomez held the Falcons scoreless while striking out 6 in 3 innings of work.
CJ Sager (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) went 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs and Jose Delacruz (George Washington HS/New York, NY) knocked in 2 on a 1 for 2 effort for the game.
The team also scored 14 runs on 10 hits in their win over Suffolk. Paul Franzese (Somers HS/Somers, NY) went 3 for 3 with 5 RBI while Delacruz went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs.
Westchester's record now stands at 19-8 overall and 2-2 within the region. The Vikings now continue their Region XV schedule today as they travel to Sullivan CC to start a four game set.
