Box Score (Brooklyn, NY) - The Westchester Community College Men's Soccer team broke a two-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over Kingsborough Community College on Thursday afternoon at Kingsborough. With the win, the Vikings improve to 7-4 overall, and 6-4 in Region XV play.
Sophomore
Jamar Gayle enjoyed another stellar game, registering two goals and two assists. The speedster set up
Joel Arevalo's early tally to make it a 1-0 game, and then notched an assist on a
Luis Lua goal to make it 2-0. He then scored the Vikings' fourth and fifth goals of the game. Also scoring for WCC was
Mate Mgeladze, who scored Westchester's third goal, off of an assist by Lua.
With the win, WCC clinches the #5 seed for the upcoming Region XV playoffs, and will travel to #4 Suffolk Community College on Saturday, Oct. 21 for an opening round game. The Vikings were defeated by Suffolk CC, 3-2 on October 5.
Westchester CC returns home for the final time this season on Tuesday, October 17 when they host Middlesex County College at 4:00 p.m.
