WIN STREAK TO FIVE AS SOUTHERN ROAD TRIP CONTINUES

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4

March 16, 2017 – Ft. Pierce, FL

The WCC Baseball team remained hot under the Florida sun as they've taken four games in the last two days of Spring Break play.  On Tuesday, they handedly topped Bethany College and then beat Kirkwood in extra innings.  Wednesday they bested Messiah College in a day/night double header.

Frankie Giuliano (Stepinac HS), got the win vs Bethany giving up just one earned run in five innings of work, while striking out seven.  Jose De La Cruz (George Washington HS/New York, NY) had a game high three RBIs while going 3 for 5 at the plate.  The team combined to pound out 20 hits on their way to a 14-1 win.

Scottie Giordano (Croton Harmon HS/Croton, NY) got the call in game 2 vs Kirkwood, who the Vikings lost to in extra innings on Sunday.  He pitched well through six innings giving up only one run.  WCC had gotten on the board early with three runs in the first thanks to consecutive bases loaded walks.  Giordano ran into trouble in the 7th though as Kirkwood tied the game at 3.  The score remained tied until the bottom of the 9th when Steve Guzman (JFK HS/Bronx, NY) doubled to plate Brian Corporan (HS For Environmental Studies/Bronx, NY) for the 4-3 walk off victory.

On Wednesday, Nick Cipriano (Dobbs Ferry HS/Dobbs Ferry, NY) and Ryan Mullaly (Somers HS/Somers, NY) combined to limit Messiah to just one run on four hits as the Vikings did all their damage in the 4th inning with four runs in the frame.  They went on to win 4-1.

For the nightcap, Nicholas Antenucci (Stepinac HS/Yonkers, NY) got the win pitching 5.2 innings, giving up three earned runs with 8 strikeouts.  Scottie Giordano and Felix Camacho (St. Raymond's HS/Bronx, NY) each had two RBI as the Vikings held an early 3-1 lead.  Messiah scored one in the 5th to tie it, but Westchester fought right back with three runs in the bottom of the inning and held on for the 8-5 triumph.

With the string of wins, the team moves to 9-4 on the season.  They return to action versus Kirkwood at 1pm on Thursday.
