Box Score (Valhalla, NY) - Sophomore Jamar Gayle scored three times, including twice during the game's opening 10 minutes, and freshman Mate Mgeladze scored twice to lead the Westchester Community College Men's Soccer team to a dominant 7-3 win over visiting SUNY Orange on Tuesday afternoon at Barrett Field. With the win, the Vikings snap a two-game losing streak and improves the team to 5-2.

The win also clinches the 2017 Mid Hudson Conference Championship for WCC as the Vikings swept through conference play.

As has been the case for much of the season at home, Westchester put the game away quickly, scoring three times during the game's first 10 minutes, and four straight overall to open the game. Sophomore Joel Arevalo opened the scoring in the fifth minute, before Gale scored at 8:01 and 9:45 to put the Vikings up 3-0. Mgeladze netted his first goal of the game to extend the lead to 4-0 at 27:00. After a SUNY Orange penalty kick tally at 34:30 to make it 4-1, Mgeladze scored his second of the contest to send WCC into halftime with a 5-1 lead.

Gale extended the lead to 6-1 at 48:50 to complete the hat-trick.

After a SUNY Orange goal at 56:00 to make it a 6-2 lead, freshman Franco LandronDeGuevarra scored at 83:15 to extend the lead to 7-2. A second SUNY Orange penalty kick goal at 85:20 concluded the scoring at 7-3.

Westchester CC has now outscored opponents 20-6 at home this season.

The Vikings now enjoy a week off to rest for the home stretch of the 2017 season, returning to Barrett field on Tuesday, Oct. 3 when they welcome Bronx Community College for a 4:00 p.m. start.
