Box Score (Valhalla, NY) - If the Westchester Community College Men's Soccer team did not break the program record for goals in a game on Monday, there are no records to indicate when they ever scored more. Freshman
Chinweizu Nwaigwe (Yonkers, NY/Riverside High School) notched the first hat trick of his career - scoring three consecutive goals over a six-minute span - and fellow freshman
Isaias Argueta (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester HS) recorded a four-point game with three goals and an assist as the Westchester Community College Men's Soccer team improved to 4-3 with a 13-0 win over Kingsborough Community College on Monday afternoon at Barrett Field. The Vikings have now won two consecutive games to improve to 4-3 in NJCAA Region XV play.
This was Westchester's eighth straight win over Kingsborough, dating back to 2013. It was also the Vikings' biggest offensive outburst since a 12-1 win over Ulster Community College on Oct. 1, 2015.
Westchester opened the scoring at 1:11 as the Vikings scored their first corner kick goal of the 2021 season when Argueta fired a pass that freshman
Eduardo Vazquez (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) headed in for a 1-0 lead. At 5:48, freshman
Oscar Umanzor (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester HS) converted a breakaway thanks to a beautiful through pass from
Freddy DePaz (Yonkers, NY/Roosevelt HS) for his fifth goal of the season to make it 2-0. Argueta scored at 12:33 and 13:53 to make it 4-0, and the rout was on. The Vikings would score four more times during a 4:22 span late in the first half to extend the lead to 8-0 at halftime.
The second half would feature more of the same as Nwaigwe scored at 63:16, 66:03, and 69:27 to make it 11-0, and
Robert McDonald (Bronx, NY/Glenmuir) and
Samuel Gyamfi (Yonkers, Ny/Riverside HS) added late goals for the 13-0 final.
Umanzoe finished the game with two goals, while Gyamfi had three points, and freshman
Juan Ugaz (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) added two assists.
Westchester out-shot Kingsborough 33-2, and took three corner kicks, while the Wave did not take any.
Westchester CC returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when the Vikings host Rockland Community College for their final home game of the 2021 season at 4:00 p.m.
