The Cardiac Kids do it Again, Thrilling Comeback Against BMCC

Oct 13

Valhalla, NY - In a Mid October game with huge playoff implications on the line, The Vikings from Westchester Community College took on the Blue Panthers from Manhattan. As expected it was a tightly played, chippy game between two really good teams.

When the ref blew his opening whistle and the game started the two teams came out with high energy and the game had an edge. About 20 minutes in, the Vikings committed a costly penalty in the box which led to a penalty kick. BMCC slotted it into the bottom left corner and they took a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later they scored again and before you knew it, it was 2-0.

The second half started and it was more of the same, SUNY WCC was beating themselves and shooting themselves in the foot, but finally maybe in the biggest moment of the season sophomore Kenny Mocha broke through and started the scoring. After that the Vikings never looked back and the momentum in the game totally changed. 7 minutes later in the 78th minute the Vikings scored again off a header from Francesco Giglio to tie the game. It wouldn't stop there as less then 2 minutes later Kenny Mocha would be tripped in the box and the stage was set for a penalty to take the lead. Mocha drew the penalty and stepped up for a chance to take the lead and he did just that. The sophomore put the Vikings on top for the first time in the game in an impromptu comeback.

Soccer is a funny game sometimes as BMCC was better for 70 minutes but Vikings never stopped pushing and scratched and clawed to the end and were able to pick up a huge win.

They are back in action for their final game of the regular season as they take on Bronx Community College on the road, Tuesday October 14th (4:00PM).
